Privacy

The short version

There are no accounts and nothing that identifies you. Everything the games remember is written to your own browser's storage on this device, and no script from another company runs on any page — no analytics, no advertising, no embedded player, no social widget. This site sets no cookies at all.

What your browser keeps, and what it is for

All of this lives in your browser's local storage, under keys beginning gaf:. It is readable only by this site, on this device, and it is never sent anywhere.

• A game in progress. The deal or board you were part way through, so closing the tab does not lose it.
• Your records. Best score and best time per game and per difficulty or variant, plays, wins and your current run of wins.
• Daily results and your streak. Which days you finished the Daily, and what happened on each.
• Awards. Which ones this device has unlocked, and the facts that unlocked them.
• Settings. Sound, vibration, card size, card back, table surface, chess piece set and large-print mode.
• Recently played and favourites. Which games to offer you first.

Clearing your browser's site data for this site removes every one of these. A private or incognito window keeps none of it once the window closes. We cannot read it, cannot restore it, and cannot move it to another device or another browser — which is also why a best time does not follow you from your phone to your laptop.

What the site stores on your device besides that

A service worker keeps copies of pages you have opened, plus the fonts, stylesheets and game code they used, so that a game you have played once still opens with no connection. Those copies are files in your browser's cache on this device. Nothing about them is reported back.

What leaves your device

The request for the page itself, and nothing else. The site is served as static files by Cloudflare Pages, so Cloudflare handles that request and, as any web host does, can see your IP address, the page you asked for, and what your browser tells every server about itself. We do not add an analytics script, a tracking pixel or a beacon of our own, and no game reports what you did to us.

The fonts are served from this site rather than from a font network, so loading a page here does not tell another company that you visited. Links to other sites — on the credits page, for example — are ordinary links, and following one is a visit to that site under its own policy.

Advertising

This site does not serve adverts. No advertising or analytics script is loaded on any page, so no ad network sets a cookie here or receives a request from your browser when you play. If that changes, this page will be updated before any ad code is added, and visitors in regions that require a consent prompt will be shown one.

Children

There is nothing to sign up for, so no age, name or email address is ever asked for or stored. If you write to us, we have whatever you put in that email and nothing else.

Your questions, and changes to this page

If you want to know what is stored for you, the answer is in your own browser and you can delete all of it in one action: clear site data for gamesarefree.com in your browser's settings. Anything else — write to us. If this policy changes materially, the change is described here and the date above is updated; it will not be applied silently.
