3 games

Arcade games are the ones with a number at the end and a button that says play again. A round is short by design, the rules fit in a sentence, and the whole appeal is that the last run being a bad one costs you nothing.

All three of them are built around one thing getting worse at a time. Snake gets harder because you are longer than you were. Maze Muncher gets harder because the four pursuers chase you four different ways and the power pellet is shorter every maze. Bubble Pop gets harder because every few shots that pop nothing push a new row down from the ceiling. They are also the games where controls matter most, so every one of them takes a keyboard and a swipe, through the same code either way.

What to expect

Snake is the one everybody has played. Steer, eat, grow — the difficulty comes from your own length rather than from anything the game adds.

Maze Muncher is the one to play if you want to learn an opponent. A full circuit is nine mazes, and the four that chase you are four different players: one heads for the square you are on, one for the square four ahead of you, one aims through you at the first, and one patrols the corners until you come close.

Bubble Pop is the one with a plan in it. The dotted line shows the real bounce off the wall, so a bank shot into a gap is something you aim rather than hope for, and cutting a group loose drops everything it was holding up for more than the pop itself pays.

Rounds are short and restarts are instant. Best scores are kept in your own browser, so they survive a refresh without you signing in to anything.

Are my high scores saved?
Your best score is kept in your own browser, so it survives closing the tab. It is not sent anywhere and it is not tied to an account, which also means it does not follow you to another device.
Which of these is the hardest?
Maze Muncher, by a distance. Snake only gets harder because you are longer than you were, and Bubble Pop shows you the real bounce off the wall before you fire — but the four that chase you through the maze each chase differently, and the power pellet lasts a shorter time in every maze you clear.
Do I need a keyboard?
No. Arrow keys and WASD work if you have one, and every board here also takes a swipe or a drag, through the same code either way — the touch controls are not a lesser version. In Bubble Pop you drag anywhere to aim and let go to fire.
